EOF Incoming First Years

Welcome to Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) EOF! As an incoming EOF student, you have the advantage of participating in our 4 credit Summer Institute. This is a 5-week residential program where incoming EOF first-year students get a glimpse into their college coursework as well as learn strategies to support their transition to Rutgers University – Newark. Look through the information below for an overview of important dates and summer program expectations.

Summer Institute

During the summer students will:

  • Learn about what academic coursework is like at RU-N
  • Connect with other EOF students, faculty, and staff
  • Learn about available resources, programs, and services
  • Become more independent and strategies to take personal responsibility for your learning process

Dates for Summer Institute for 2026: June 27th – July 31st. You will also be invited to campus for two days prior to this for placement testing and to register for your classes. These dates will be provided after you decide to attend Rutgers University – Newark.

Important Admission Dates

  • By May 1st: Accept Admission to RU-N
    • Activate your netid & enroll in DUO (BOTH are required to access Rutgers systems)
    • Wait 24 hours after activation to proceed to the next step
  • By May 10th: Register for placement testing and SOAR (Student Orientation Advisement & Registration)
  • May 16th: In person placement testing for EOF students. You MUST register by May 10th to attend!!
  • June 1st: Submit any required financial documents
  • Early June: Attend EOF Workshop Day
  • June 27th – July 31st: Attend Summer Program
