Registration happens toward the middle of each semester for the following semester. You can check the semester’s academic calendar to see when you are designated to register for classes. Make sure you click through these tabs so you are prepared when that time comes!
Preparing for Registration
Understand Your Requirements:
- Meet with your academic advisor to understand your requirements and course options
- View Degree Navigator for remaining degree requirements and search for requirements that you have not declared
Create your Schedule:
- Login to Course Schedule Planner to create desired schedules of about 15 credits (unless otherwise advised)
- Use the “Select Courses” tab and select Newark, undergraduate, and subject area
- Add all classes you want to take. Don’t focus on selecting sections yet!
- Use the “Select Sections” tab to deselect what you DONT want
- Deselect closed classes
- Deselect days/times that don’t work for you
- Save schedules for later use when its your day to register
Tip: Use the Schedule of Classes to narrow down open core curriculum requirements in multiple subjects. (This feature is not available in the Course Schedule Planner)
How to Register
- Login to Course Schedule Planner when you are ready to register for your classes
- Visit “Saved Schedule” tab to view schedules
- Select desired schedule and click “Register” at the top
- The Webreg system will automatically populate the index numbers for your desired schedule
- Click “Add Courses” at the top to register
- After you register check for any error messages at the top of the page (classes that are closed, have time conflicts, or other restrictions will be listed)
- Alternately, you can search course index numbers in the Schedule of Classes and add them manually into Webreg to register for courses
Closed Classes
If your desired course is closed you can try the following strategies to get into the course
- You can monitor the Schedule of Classes to see if the class opens
- Email the department administrator or professor of the course to ask for assistance
- Attend the first day of class early to speak to the professor to ask for a “Special Permission Number (SPN).” This number will allow you to add the course even if its closed. SPNs can be entered directly on Webreg
Add/Drop Period
- Classes can be added and dropped during the Add/Drop period without penalty on Webreg
- After the Add/Drop period is over, classes may be dropped with a W grade until the deadline
- W grades will not affect your GPA but may affect your financial aid – Consult with your EOF Counselor for details
- Details on dates and deadlines can be found on the semester’s academic calendar
